ENJABULWENI PRIMARY SCHOOL

The focus of the primary phase of our schooling is to lay a solid groundwork from which all learners will be able to extend their knowledge and skills throughout their formal schooling. We aim to prepare learners for the challenges of the real world by providing diverse learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Our curriculum is informed by the IEB Primary School Initiative guidelines.
The Primary School is divided into two phases, Foundation and Senior Phase.

THE FOUNDATION PHASE: Grade 0 – Grade 3

The curriculum for the Foundation Phase in our school reflects three areas of   learning:
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Life Skills
It is broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated to meet the developmental needs of all the children.  Our teacher-learner ratio ensures that each learner receives individual attention. Each grade is also assisted by full time Teaching Assistants.

Other learning areas include Computer Literacy, Music, Art, Drama, Physical Education, Communicative Siswati, Religious Instruction and Cooking. In Grade 2 a second language option is offered when learners may choose between Siswati, Afrikaans and French.

THE SENIOR PHASE: Grade 4 – Grade 7

This phase offers an extension of skills learnt in formative years and encourages independent critical thinking.  Subject specialists are responsible for the teaching of the core subjects offered in this phase of our learning:
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • A choice of one of three second languages (Siswati, Afrikaans and French).
Learners are also exposed to non-core subjects, including Computer Literacy (Coding and Robotics), Physical Education, Art, Library, Religious Instruction, Life Skills and Communicative Siswati. A further extension to learning is provided through educational tours and leadership activities.
We have, over the years, had our learners participate in the IEB Primary School Initiative benchmarking tests (Grade 7 – MATCH, Grade 6 – CORE SKILLS); which provide the school with an accurate assessment of how our academic process compares with international standards.
EXTRA-MURAL PROGRAMME
In our effort to provide a balance between academics and physical activity, we offer a broad range of sporting codes and cultural activities. All our learners are expected to participate in our extra-mural programme, which is offered between 12h00 and 14h30 (Mon – Fri).

ACADEMIC SUPPORT & THERAPY

Learners having difficulty with any aspect of the academic time-table are given additional help by teachers and therapists. These lessons may include Occupational or Speech and Language therapy.
